Live Steam Kits Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of a range of Machined Ready to Build Kits for High Quality Live Steam Locomotives to enable enthusiasts without workshop facilities to build a quality model. They will also appeal to experienced Model Engineers who wish to build and run a live steam locomotive relatively quickly without the need to spend time machining and manufacturing the many parts required.
Based upon our 8 years of experience in building other maker’s products within the Lynx Model Works Association of Companies, as well as those of our own manufacture, we are developing a range of working models as self–assembly kits. We are confident that anyone with a basic understanding of Engineering principles will be able to complete a working Live Steam Locomotive from them. After comprehensive research and Prototype Production our first kits will be ready to launch in Mid 2010 followed by others throughout the coming years.
Our first offerings are a 7 ¼” gauge L & Y “Pug” 0-4-0 Dock Saddle Tank Locomotive, with our 2 nd working model being a more complicated 5” gauge 3 Cylinder Rebuilt Merchant Navy Class Pacific Locomotive and Tender. Our 3rd is a 5” gauge GWR 4 cylinder “Castle” class 4-6-0 and tender with the 4th being a 5” gauge German db P8 4-6-0 locomotive and tender - a large and unusual model.
These comprehensive kits of parts, boilers and all platework etc, whilst of necessity not inexpensive, will nevertheless build into good quality working models for the discerning enthusiast, with greater scale features than has generally been available in many kits so far.
